Koda, M1 student in our laboratory, received the Outstanding Effort Award for his paper presented at xSIG 2023.
This award recognizes “the time and effort spent on the implementation and data acquisition related to the technical contribution of the paper”, and is an objective recognition of Koda’s efforts. We hope that this award will encourage him to aim higher!

Tohoku University Cyberscience Center had a unveiling visiting tour of new supercomputer AOBA-1.5. Prof. Takizawa explained the detail of the supercomputer, and the explanations appeared in some newspapers and TV programs.
Prof. Takizawa gave an invited talk at NEC User Group Meeting held at DWD (Deutscher Wetterdienst, the German Meteorologilal Service). The talk is to introduce our new supercomputer named AOBA-1.5, which will start operation on August 1st, 2023.
Prof. Takahashi presented the following paper at ISC 2023, an international conference on high performance computing that was held from May 21 to 25 in Hamburg, Germany.

At an international workshop, iWAPT2023, Prof. Takizawa presented the work done by Moto Satake who completed his master course in March 2023. The workshop is about software performance automatic tuning, so the audiences were interested in the proposed parallel execution method of Bayesian optimization, and thus we had fruitful discussions at the workshop. Hello everyone, my name is Dominik Mann. I am a M2 student in applied statistics at the University of Goettingen in Germany.
I came to the Takizawa Lab through the COLABS exchange program of the Tohoku University and will be a part of the lab for the next six months.
My main research interest involves practical applications of Machine Learning and Deep Learning. I believe that getting to know how to utilize supercomputers and high-performance computing systems in general will increase my practical skills by combining both Machine Learning and supercomputers. I am grateful for getting this opportunity in this very exciting environment and looking forward to some special experiences.
Hello! My name is Daiki Nakai, M2 student.
In Takizawa Laboratory, in addition to the global seminar held by the entire laboratory, local seminars are held on the initiative of students.
In the local seminar, each student gives a progress report for the week and discusses with professors and other students.
During summer and spring breaks, the frequency is once every two weeks.
B4 students are looking forward to seeing what kind of research they will conduct!
