From August 5 to 7, 2026, we attended SWoPP 2026 at the Hida Earth Wisdom Center in Takayama, Gifu. SWoPP, the Summer United Workshops on Parallel, Distributed and Cooperative Processing, brings together several research meetings in these fields. xSIG 2026, a cross-disciplinary workshop on computing systems, was also held on the first day.
SWoPP 2026 featured a wide range of research on high-performance computing, accelerators, programming, and scheduling. Four students from our laboratory presented their research. At xSIG 2026, Koki Watanabe presented “Semi-Automatic Host–Device Data Transfer Based on Code Analysis,” Masaki Nakatsuji presented “Evaluating the Effectiveness of Vector-Architecture Optimizations by Porting an RRI Model Implemented for the VE to GPUs,” and Yusuke Ishihara presented “A Transparent Dynamic Core Allocation Method for Hybrid MPI/OpenMP Parallel Programs.” Assistant Professor Masatoshi Kawai also chaired the xSIG-2 session. At the HPC research meeting, Makoto Ishii presented “A Scheduling Method for Disaggregated Computing Platforms That Accounts for Communication Latency and Reconfiguration.” In addition, the paper led by Yusuke Ishihara received the Best Research Award, and Koki Watanabe received the Outstanding Presentation Award. The presentations and discussions provided insights into the development and operation of high-performance computing systems, which we will apply to future research and collaborative projects.
